Spring is commonly referred to as moving season – the time where people sell their homes and get ready to move into their new ones.
Moving is a stressful process – why not let the experts handle it?
Calm Order offers moving services for every stage of the moving process, including pre-moving organization and decluttering, home staging, and organized unpacking. We take care of all the details so that you can have a relaxing and stress-free moving experience!
Pre-moving organization and decluttering
In our pre-moving organization and decluttering process, we work with you to go through your items and determine which ones are unwanted, unused, and unneeded. We believe it’s important to go through your items before you start packing, to help you save time and money transporting unnecessary items to your new home. During this process, we can also help you find places to donate or dispose the items you no longer need.
Home staging and styling
This process is an important part to our home styling and staging services. Decluttering your possessions can instantly transform your home and make it ready for special events, open houses, or your own enjoyment. With this service, we use items that you already own but find ways to reuse, repurpose, and reposition them in a way that brings more calm and order to your space. We don’t think its necessary to completely redesign your home or buy new furniture just to stage it. Often, homeowners already have everything they need, they just aren’t using these items in the best possible way!
Organized unpacking
Calm Order also helps with one of the most important parts of the moving process: unpacking your items in your new home. When we unpack your items, we make sure that they are placed in a way that makes sense for you and your lifestyle. Whether you need us to unpack a single room or your entire home, we’ll make sure everything finds its proper place. We can also help you find the supplies and tools you need to maintain your new and organized home. Whether its storage-maximizing closet organizers, bins, or kitchen cupboard inserts, we can make sure that every area in your home works efficiently.
We cover all the details
During this complex process, smaller tasks and details can get lost in the cracks. When you’re dealing with a move in the middle of your busy life, it can be hard to keep track of everything. That’s where we come in: not only do we take care of the more obvious and complex tasks, we are also there to make sure no details, no matter how small, are overlooked. For example, we make sure that you have everything you need for your first night with what we call the “first night kit.” With this kit, we make sure you have all of the essential items you’ll need in an easily accessible place for when you spend the first night in your new home. This way, you won’t have to worry about immediately unpacking everything once you walk in the door. We make sure that items like toothbrushes, phone chargers, food, and clothing is ready and waiting for you.
Finding a new home and putting your current one on the market is stressful enough, so having a professional organizer to help with each stage of the moving process will make your life a lot easier!
Reusing and Repurposing
Why spend the money and clutter your space with new items when you have everything you need?
Calm Order recently worked on a professional organizing job for a client preparing a home for sale. Instead of buying new items for staging, Calm Order de-cluttered the space and used items the homeowner already had in the house to decorate.
“ I was getting a clients home ready to sell. We were de-cluttering and refreshing some spaces. ” explains Karen Allbright.
“We ‘shopped’ her home for complimentary decor and de-cluttered.”
When faced with redecorating or staging a space for sale or just for a change, think about what you can do and use that you already have available. Decorative items from one area of your home and be moved and used in a different way in another room. Excess items and objects that are unwanted can be donated and removed to give a room a completely new feel.
For this particular client, Allbright says that one room that stood out for her was the office. She ‘shopped’ for vases from this client by using ones that she already had. To add a unique design to the office that complimented the slope of the window, Albright stood some vases upright, some on their sides, and some upside down.
She also de-cluttered and donated the unneeded and extra books to the Calgary Public Library, which cleared up the desk and shelving space, which makes the space seem bigger and more appealing to potential home buyers.
“It’s all about repurposing things and not buying more if you can find something in the house you already have,” says Allbright. [TWEET THAT!]
Instead of always buying and bringing in more clutter to your home, downsize and work with what you already have. A simple switch of decorations or pictures from one room to another can make a big difference – and a good clean and reorganization really helps too!
Here are two example pictures from the client’s office that show what the room looked like before, and what it now looks like after being organized and refreshed with vases the client already owned:
