An Organizing Mission!

I have been on a personal organizing mission! Although I'm not a collector of things.. my clutter collects like everyone else. Those drawers of unused lotions gather from birthday gifts and Christmas Stockings.

As a professional organizer it is not so much about knowing what to do or how to get organized it is usually about finding the time.

There has been much hype about Marie Kondos best selling organizing book that talks about doing it all! Although I enjoyed her book doing it all at once isn't always realistic or possible.

I started doing a purge of every closet, drawer and cabinet in my home early this summer. I would take one drawer or one closet at a time.. working my way through my entire home.

Although I don't have tones to purge, it was time again to do the professional organizing purge. Inspiring me is the new paint and change of colors in my home. Everything dark was going, everything that stirred joy ,beaches and bright was staying.

It has been a fun summer adventure and still more to go!  Come on! Join me.. lets get Organizing!

Ready for Change

Changing one room can have a huge impact not only on the rest of your space, but in your life as well.

Change ahead.jpg

Last fall, Calm Order assisted a busy family that didn’t know where to start on their home reorganization. The company worked on one room before Christmas, and completely transformed the client’s living space. After Christmas, Calm Order returned and reworked the master bedroom.

The client had nothing but positive remarks about the job. Not only her but also her husband and children were already feeling the effects of having a more organized home.

“I have even caught the kids going [into the newly-organized room] and shutting the door so I won’t find them playing iPad in a nice clean room.

“[Her husband] is really enjoying it too. I think he may even be a little less grumpy.”

A friend even noticed a change and said, “it’s funny, [the] whole house is starting to look better than I have ever seen it! You are a miracle worker! I think [the client] just feels more positive and is more motivated to keep it organized.”

Calm Order worked one room at a time and set guidelines for the clients moving forward onto the other rooms in the home. In time, the whole house will be organized and will hopefully stay that way. If the client is really ready for change the lasting success rate soars.

People often assume that organizing a home has to be done all at once. Depending on the lifestyle and needs of the home and the family, different methods should be undertaken to produce the best and most lasing results, like in the case of this client and her family. Focusing time and energy on one room at a time worked the best for them, but it might not be the best approach for someone else.

Tired of living in chaos? Open and ready for change? A person must be ready for order [TWEET THAT!]

Make Time for Summer

Summer is Calgary’s shortest season, with only a couple of sun-filled months available for people to enjoy. So why not make the most of it? Organize your schedule and make time to get outside and soak up the vitamin D!

Plan ahead and try to spend an hour outside during the day. Whether it’s reading outside on the patio, going for a walk during lunch break, getting some gardening done, or firing up the grill, try and incorporate the outdoors in your daily schedule.

Spending some time outside can help you feel more energized and relaxed. It gives you the chance to take a break and de-stress whether or not you’re being active. The fresh air and vitamin D can have a huge impact on how people go about their day.

However, it’s one thing to plan to spend time outside each day, and another to actually follow through with that plan. It’s easy to push it to the bottom of the to-do list when life gets busy with work, unexpected plans, projects, and more. People should make the conscience effort to include outdoor time if not everyday, then at least regularly throughout the week. Pencil it into a schedule, write a note as a reminder, or jot it down on the calendar to step outside and get some fresh air.

Make the most of the warm weather while it’s here! Missing out will only lead to remorse. Going outside doesn’t have to take up a lot of time, and it doesn’t have to be a huge event. A quick walk, or even bringing work outside to do is a small change that will make a big difference.

Summer will pass you by if you don’t take the opportunity to enjoy it! [TWEET THIS!]
