How to Hire the Best Professional Organizer

Professional Organizers - Decluttering / Staging / Preparing for the Move

A professional organizer helps you pack, purge, sort, and stage all at once.

Not all organizers offer move services or have experience with moving.

Choose an organizer based on the following:

  • Years in business

  • Service expertise

  • Have they only done small apartments, or have they moved homes upwards of 10K sq feet?

  • Are they insured?

  • Do they have formal training or certifications?

  • Do they work with a regular mover?

  • Are they solo or have a team?

The industry is not regulated – know what you are signing up for.

Generally speaking, you can find inexperienced organizers on places like Kijiji who are uninsured and hobbyists. They tend to work evenings, weekends, and when the kids are at school. They tend to have no formal training or knowledge of how things interact or work - process lacking.

Professionals - Tricky because people wake up one day and call themselves a professional and have no training or limited experience. Consumers need to do their due diligence in who they are hiring.

Professionals are experienced, insured, have training and/or years of experience. They tend to work on large projects unlike the hobbyist or juniors who would work on “a closet” or “a pantry”. Professionals have extensive product knowledge and don’t get caught up in gimmick organizing trends. They look at function, use, and space and how things interact to create personalized systems.

Finding the right professional organizer is key.
