The City of Calgary is serious about recycling and have set ambitious goals for the future to reduce waste added to our Calgary landfills. The City of Calgary has along-term goal is to reduce the amount of waste going to landfills to just 20 per cent, and recycling or recovering 80 per cent of waste materials by the year 2020.

Electronics Recycling - Electronic Drop Off Locations

Recycle old and unusable electronics, free of charge Includes such items as:

  • TVs (all sizes)

  • Computer monitors (some restrictions apply)

Women in Need Society

Each Thrift Store offers clean and gently used merchandise including clothing, dishes, cookware,
household goods, furniture and books.

Calgary Drop-in Centre

The DI will accept all donations at their new Donation Centre located at 3640 11A Street NE,  off Deerfoot Trail NE (except food which will be accepted at our Downtown Centre). Phone: 403-264-0856.This new Receiving Centre was developed to better serve a growing demand of individuals in need of household items. Please call DI center for any changes to donation locations and current needs.

Eye Glasses
Most optical retailers such as Lens Crafters and Pearle Vision accept donations of old eyeglasses with or without cases at all locations.  Please call your local retailer.

A great resource for finding items or getting rid of items, and the best part is that everything is FREE! You must join the group to have access to the service but membership is absolutely free.
